Back to Black
April 14, 2009
There's a million reasons why things do and don't get done.
Bill Clinton was never able to institute his health care reform. Jimmy Carter wasn't able to bring about his promised peace between Israel and Palestine. Abraham Lincoln won the Civil War but the Reconstruction plunged the South into murdering chaos for almost a hundred years...
...and it's 2009 and I'm still not a star.
There are exactly one million reasons for that. Half of them are excuses. At least 500,000 are legit. But the one that sticks is the simple fact that it's so easy to get distracted from what you want to do and who you are.
The road of Good Intentions is plagued with setbacks, distractions, and a lot of nails and broken glass. In "These Tough Economic Times" it's important not to spend less time thinking about how tough the "economic times" are and more time in single-minded focus on what your end-goals and overall objectives are.
Keeping a level head in the face of global catastophe.
The key isn't to shrivel-up and grit your teeth when the going gets tough. That's what lemmings do. The solution is to double-down on your individuality.
So it's back with the black hat, the black cat. Back to updating the website. Back to editing the book. Back to driving. Back to writing. Back on stage. Back behind a video camera. back in the editing room. Back being everywhere at the same time. Back to settle some old scores. Back off auto-pilot.
Basically the same old me... only MORE so.
Welcome Back.
